ELLISON BUILDING, PHILLIPS FLOORS

Winner AGC “Build Massachusetts”, Honor Award
Winner Fourth Symposium on Healthcare Design,
Healthcare Environment Interior Design Award

We were retained by Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) retained our firm to design the interiors
of their new inpatient tower, the Ellison Building, and their new outpatient tower, the Blake Building.
The two towers encompass over 700,000 square feet of space and incorporate every departmental
service.

The Phillips Floors occupy the top three floors in the Ellison Building. Wood paneling in the
elevator lobby and hallways creates a rich, upscale look, floor patterns in vinyl composition tile mimic
classic marble floor designs, patient rooms with traditional décor and finely detailed millwork components.

Upon completion, MGH was rated as the best hospital for amenities by the Boston Globe.

BLAKE BUILDING, VINCENT MEMORIAL OBSTETRICS PRACTICE

Winner American Institute of Architects, Honor Award

The Vincent Memorial Obstetrics physicians challenged us to develop a “pod concept”
floor plan. The resulting plan grouped exam rooms, offices, nurse stations and toilet facilities
dedicated to an individual physician’s practice. The reception lobby has a custom designed desk
divided into four parts, one for each practice. Hallways leading to the pods are color coded with
an accent color canopy to direct patients to their doctor. Artwork, integrated throughout, is a collection of
emerging Boston artists.
